New judo term

Dear Parent / Guardian,

In preparation for the term ahead, we though it would be useful if we gave you an update on the Club organisation and upcoming events. Firstly, Judo will restart on the 22nd August at the same times as last year – 6:00 to 6:45 for under 8’s, 6:50 to 7:50 for 8 to 12 year olds and teenagers / adults from 8:00 to 21:15.

Under 8’s class

Children that were in the under 8’s class and have now turned 8 should now attend the middle class from 6:50-7:50. At the start of the term, James will be away on paternity leave, so we will be coaching one group instead of two. After we do taster sessions in the local schools, we expect a new intake of children and then we plan to form two groups again. In the longer term, James is planning to start up his own club in Jedburgh, so we are paving the way for one of our other coaches to take over his position after Christmas.

Middle class

We plan to continue running two groups, but you will notice that we will be giving more opportunities for our less experienced coaches to develop their coaching skills.

Judo Scotland Skill sCool

We would like to encourage as many junior members of Focus Judo as possible to attend the Skill sCool in Edinburgh on September 25th (Meadowbank. It is a great opportunity for Focus children to come out of their comfort zone and train at a different place with other children, as well as receiving top class coaching. We understand that this is a bit further to travel than the last event at Peebles, but hopefully we can maintain a good level of participation. If you have any problem with transport, coaches will be able to assist. The form for Skill sCool can be found on the JudoScotland website (click this link). Please return to Lee in the first week of judo. We will also have paper forms on hand if you don’t have a printer.

Yours, in Judo.
