Junior Judo

Gradings
Our gradings are run in conjunction with Judo Scotland, the sport's national federation, and every child entering the system needs a Judo Scotland licence. This provides a record of every grading your child does as well as providing them with insurance cover. As each new grade is achieved the child receives a certificate, badge and
(if appropriate) a new coloured belt.

Mons and Belts
The colour of the belt signifies the ‘grade' or the experience of the player.
Children over 8 earn ‘Mons' for which they are awarded a certificate and a badge,
the requirements for the Mons are detailed in the Mon Learning Programme pdf (above)
which is the Junior Syllabus, click here for more info.
Progression is based on ability, technique and knowledge of throws, holds (and some Japanese words ).
