| Focus Judo Club is one of the oldest in Scotland, having been founded by Bill Hislop in 1951. We have a history page which describes how the club was formed and how Bill learnt his Judo.
We can be described as a friendly, welcoming Club. We aim to provide a positive experience for all our members by trying to meet each individuals aspirations, which may be learning new techniques, getting fit or training for competition Judo.
Sessions run once a week on a Monday night at the Focus Centre in Galashiels (see time and place). We have around 50 children split into three sessions and a later class attended by around 10 adults of mixed abilities.
The children’s class in particular is not just about teaching Judo techniques. It is as much about developing coordination, fitness, confidence and discipline. We also try to make it as fun as possible with various games devised to develop all of these attributes.
